Curriculum
Curriculum
The BRJC Parsi School has kept up with modern times with a curriculum that is prescribed by the State Government. It made the transition under the stewardship of dedicated Principal – Jacob George, D. Daniel, Trity Bapuji, Shernavaz Baria, DML Vyjayanthi and currently T Vishnuvardhana Chary. Trustees from the (Chenoy/Chinoy) family – Nadir E. Chinoy, Mehernosh H. Chenoy, Saam A. Chenoy, Homi J. Chinoy, with the guidance of Mrs. Gulbanoo Y. Chenoy, who is the President of the Trust, supervise the progress and working of the school which is run on a non- profit basis. Ashish Saam Chenoy as the Secretary takes an active interest in the school. Currently there are a few students from Parsi families who continue to patronize the school, while majority of students are from middle and lower – middle class families from other communities.
The BRJC Parsi School is the only known Parsi-run school in South India and it had celebrated its Centenary Year in 2019. While the management is very sensitive to the need of providing a good infrastructure and maintaining the school (no grants are availed of from the government), without adequate funds modernization of education is compelled to take a back seat. The Trustees are therefore seeking funds to augment resources. Technology –driven modern educational infrastructure call for heavy financial expenditure. The school has already initiated, with its limited resources, the use of technology in its teaching methodology by incorporating the Digital Class Boards (Tata Class Edge) that facilitate interactive classroom learning. However, there is need for more such classrooms. The investment for setting up each such digital classroom amounts to almost Rs. 1,50,000/- , software for these is extra. Our academic plan includes different competitions internal and external in drawing, singing, dancing, music and specially in sports.
DEMOGRAPHY
The school is located in Parklane, Secunderabad. It is in the heart of the Secunderabad city. Most of the students that attend the school are from the slums nearby. More than 50% of the strength is from all the small bazars within a radius of 3 to 4 kilometers, like the Kandoji Bazar, Pot Market, General Bazar, Dhaan Bazar, Bharthan Compound, Kalasiguda, Regimental Bazar etc. The rest are from slums located in Balamrai, Ranigunj, Nallagutta, Rasoolpura, Prakash Nagar, Many of the parents’ work in the shops as manual help or domestic help. Some of the parents are small scale businessmen or road side vendors. We have children of Chaiwallas and Bandiwallas studying here. For most of the children just going to school is a dream but when they do come to the school they very soon adapt to the system and the high academic standards provided in the school. As mentioned earlier, the school management doesn’t compromise on providing for quality education.

The school also provides internal meritorious scholarships. Most of the scholarships are sponsored by the Trustees. Some scholarships are given by some of the Alumni who are grateful for what they received in the school. These scholarships help the children pay part of their fees – sometimes up to 50%. They also help in motivating the children to improve their performance. Children of single parents are given full free education irrespective of having or not having a sponsor. Yet, we are not always in a position to offer all the underprivileged children who apply for admission a place in the school on freeships and scholarships and wish we could do more.
